Aloe juice from a runny nose in an infant

Young children have an increased tendency to runny nose and diseases of the nasopharynx. According to medical statistics, 60% of all calls to the ENT specialist are associated with symptoms of swelling of the nasal mucosa. This is because in children, due to their age, the organs and systems responsible for the health of the nasopharynx are not yet fully formed. Especially when it comes to babies in whom the structure of the cartilage of the nose does not contribute to the free cleansing of mucus.

Treat a baby from a cold

Children under one year old breathe only through the nose (small children cannot breathe through the mouth) and suffer greatly if the mucous membrane swells and the child has a runny nose. When the nose is clogged, the newborn can not eat, sleep, cries a lot, experiencing great discomfort. The treatment for the common cold in such young children is very different from the way we treat the common cold for ourselves. You can use vasoconstrictive drops for newborns with great care, since they have side effects and are even addictive. Rinse your baby’s nose is also very difficult. How to be?

We read on the topic:

Aloe for the treatment of the common cold

When choosing a method of treating a cold for a baby up to a year, pay attention to folk remedies. Most grandmother’s recipes are really effective. Among them there is a plant that in just a few days is able to rid the baby of the common cold, at the same time strengthening its immunity and acting as a prophylactic against many infections. This is aloe.

The beneficial properties of aloe
The beneficial properties of aloe

The healing properties of aloe are undeniable. They were also known to our great-grandmothers, who successfully used aloe for the treatment of colds. Today, aloe is part of many drugs, it is prescribed to children by pediatricians. So why is it so useful?

  • Aloe juice contains a large number of trace elements and vitamins that affect local immunity, strengthening the resistance of the mucosa;
  • aloe contains an antibiotic that infects bacteria;
  • substances with antiseptic effect in aloe juice destroy germs and viruses;
  • aloe juice anesthetizes and relieves swelling;
  • the action of the juice of this plant is instant;
  • does not contain highly allergenic and toxic substances harmful to health.

How to apply aloe vera?

It must be remembered that, like any medicine, aloe must be used carefully and wisely, clearly adhering to safe dosages. Its juice is very concentrated, so it is extremely undesirable to use it in babies up to a year. To bring the juice to the desired concentration, it must be diluted with water (boiled!) In a ratio of 1: 3 (for newborns - 1: 5). Consider how to properly prepare an aloe medicine to treat a cold:

  1. A plant that can be used for treatment should be at least 3 years old.
  2. Wrap a few lower, fleshiest leaves in dark paper and refrigerate for 12 hours.
  3. Finely seasoned leaves, finely chop and squeeze the juice through cheesecloth.
  4. Dilute the juice in the ratio indicated above.
  5. Warm to room temperature. Can be used!

If you dig in the nose: Aloe juice (diluted with water) is instilled with a pipette 3-5 drops in each nasal passage. We dig in 2-3 times a day. See the article on how to properly instill a baby drop in the nose >>>

Wipe the mucous membrane: A classic aqueous solution of aloe must be used by moistening a swab or cotton swab and rubbing the baby’s nasal mucosa 3 times a day. But the classic recipe can not be limited, adding other ingredients for the effect.

Aloe Vera Drop Recipes

The following recipes have long and repeatedly been tested as potent agents for the treatment of the common cold in children up to a year old. However, due to the fact that some components may be allergenic, before testing them on your baby, test by dropping a small drop of the drug on the wrist of a child. Just making sure that there is no allergy, you can begin treatment.

  • Aloe with garlic. Pour 1 liter of garlic in a liter of boiled water and let it brew for 4 hours under a tightly closed lid. Mix 1 tablespoon of the infusion with the same amount of liquid honey and pure aloe juice and wipe the baby's nose up to 6 times a day with a swab moistened with a solution.
  • Aloe with honey.Take liquid honey, mix in equal proportions with aloe juice and boiled water. Wet the mucous membrane of the baby several times a day, especially before bedtime.
  • Aloe with olive oil. Boil the oil (for disinfection), cool. Mix with pure aloe juice in a ratio of 3: 1 and use several times a day, emulsifying the mucous membrane of the nose of the baby with an emulsion.

Contraindications and side effects

In order not to harm the health of the baby, use caution when applying aloe juice. If in doubt whether to use this tool, consult a pediatrician. Monitor the condition of the child during treatment: if it worsens, the swelling intensifies or allergy symptoms appear, if the baby cries violently and for a long time after lubricating the nasal passages with the product, stop using it immediately.

It is worth remembering that aloe juice is a potent remedy, and a small organism may not immediately get used to it. For 10-20 minutes after use, the baby may experience tearing, sneezing, irritation of the nasal mucosa, itching in the nose. This is a normal effect of aloe caused by the active substances in its composition, and it should not cause concern. If you feel that the discomfort is too great, you can reduce the concentration of plant juice by increasing the amount of water. Be healthy!

    My daughter first had a runny nose when we turned 6 months old ((Treated with aloe juice and salty water. I can’t say that it helped very quickly, for me these days until the nose seemed to breathe forever, but aloe really helps with a cold))

    Several times the child’s nose was dripped with scarlet juice, the product is really effective. But the child needs to get used to it, adapt. The main thing is not to make the solution very concentrated - so as not to cause an allergy in the baby!

    Some doctors for some reason do not approve of the treatment with aloe juice, but my wife and I experienced from our own experience, when we treated our son in this way, that this is a really quick method. But I advise you to use it in the initial stages, when a runny nose is severely started - be sure to go to the doctor.

  4. Maria

    I did not really like this method. My child vomited after instillation.

    Yes, aloe is a miraculous plant. It’s a pity my plants do not take root, I’ve already tried three times to grow aloe - they dry up. We use a spray of Quix with aloe from the common cold - it is also good at other things for the baby, and the squirrels all go out. True, it can only be used from 6 months.

    I don’t know, I don’t know, my child was not very well after aloe juice, was sick! Then I tried quix with aloe - this turned out to be a thing! He coped well with the runny nose at his daughter - washed his nose, sucked snot. A few days were ripped up and everything was fine. But I’ll clarify that it can be from 6 months!

    Daria, we used Quicks, but now the cost has grown and I just started looking for what is cheaper. Compared with Aquamaris the same at a sky-high price. I found Morenazal with a red lighthouse, this is our domestic spray, it is at a normal price. We were satisfied, and I see no reason to overpay.

    At 5 months we got SARS. Doctors prescribed Nazivin - it did not help. Then Nazol was discharged, it is also useless, and this, taking into account the fact that before each instillation, they washed the nose with Aqualor and sucked the nozzles. The mother-in-law gave a scarlet, I decided to consult a pediatrician. It turned out all the doctors of Asbest categorically against this remedy. But we still use it and the result is positive. I don’t understand why pediatricians are against it.

    How many people have so many opinions, I tried to squeeze the juice, so some kind of mucus. It does not fit into a pipette. Small does not lie in one place for a long time. I need so caught, dripped or puffed and for half a day. Aquamaster last bought a spray. It moisturizes well and relieves swelling. And the snot is well-marked.
