Two more years of constant work as a copywriter brought me new successes and difficulties. To the joy of independence and improvement of financial condition, difficulties in finding profitable orders and the complexity of the psychological plan were added. Where is it better to work, on the stock exchange or with one regular customer

Having started working as a copywriter forcibly, on maternity leave, I went through all the stages of becoming a professional. Despite the good fees, the idea of ​​raising earnings did not leave me. For almost two years I have been sending resumes to labor exchanges - ZERO results. I realized that reputable companies promising earnings of 30,000 to 50,000 rubles did not want to deal with remote copywriters. The bosses need to constantly see the employee at the workplace, monitor him, give valuable instructions ...

In addition to working on copywriting exchanges, I tried to work with one or two regular customers. Although such work is paid better (and without commission from exchanges), it is always finite. Having completely filled the site with articles (and I just filled the sites with articles), you become unnecessary and forced to look for another customer. Another difficulty is the need to constantly write on one topic. From a psychological point of view, it is very tiring and I want a change.

Advantages of working on exchanges:

  • You have the opportunity to freely plan hours of work (there is time for economic affairs, child care);
  • earnings depend only on you (of course, it is affected by the rating, the number of regular customers, expensive individual orders);
  • you don’t encounter unpleasant people and rudeness (if you are tolerant of demanding VEB masters and novice website builders);
  • You can freely choose interesting topics;
  • you work at home, which means reducing the cost of travel, meals in canteens and cafes;
  • You can write articles for the online store and set high prices;
  • you withdraw money at a time convenient for you, transfer to a card;
  • with a demanding attitude towards oneself, professional skills and rating are necessarily increased.

Tips for beginners

Communicating with colleagues, I realized that a philological or journalistic education is not necessary for working as a copywriter. Among my acquaintances, there are a retired police major, a girl with an architectural education, an elderly woman accountant.

Now the difficulties with the uniqueness of the texts seem ridiculous when working with Glavred or Turgenev. Constantly developing professional skills, you can learn to achieve any uniqueness and high performance in terms of stylistic components.

When starting work on content exchanges, remember the simple rules:

  1. For first orders, choose topics that you are good at. In the future, you will learn to write on any topic, but you need to spend a lot of time on the selection of material. I started working with orders for articles on child care, cooking, clothes and shoes, then I mastered other topics.
  2. Carefully read and re-read the terms of reference. A missed proposal in a task may result in a revision or a refusal.
  3. Never argue with the customer. He knows better what text is needed on the site.
  4. Do not avoid inexpensive orders. An inexperienced copywriter of expensive articles is not trusted, but each completed order increases your rating.
  5. Check written text several times for grammatical and stylistic errors. Check each unfamiliar word or term for several dictionaries.
  6. Register on several exchanges. In this case, the rating grows more slowly, but the opportunities to find orders expand.
  7. Take a virtual copyright school, such training courses work on several exchanges. The time spent on completing training tasks is offset by improving your practical skills.
  8. Take part in tenders. Feel free to talk about a little experience, emphasize your diligence. A good customer will help you correct the mistakes that are inevitable at the start of work.
  9. Always check the actual material. Try not to make mistakes, be careful not to harm Internet readers with your recommendations.

New challenges of professional work

The increase in the number of orders caused new psychological difficulties. After several days of hard work, my desire to write disappears. Annoying customer requirements, depression sets in, overcomes laziness. I learned to deal with this change of activity - I clean the apartment, do a new hairstyle, and meet friends.

When you write several orders on the same topic, you begin to repeat, you write stamps. It turns out it's easier to write on new, unfamiliar topics. Interesting are the works in which the customer sets out complex requirements for the number of keywords and checks on different services. I have not yet learned how to avoid repetitions, change my style, syntax.
