My birth went perfectly thanks to my husband

The question of whether a spouse should be in childbirth, tormented me for a very long time. The terms of the contract allowed his presence from the first to the last moment, but I decided that my husband would definitely not go to the delivery room. I really didn’t want my beloved to hear these inhuman cries and to see a face distorted from pain. But about the prenatal, our opinions diverged. I was only in favor, but he could not understand how he would be able to help me. The husband made the final decision only in the hospital - nevertheless, he decided to stay. And you know, I am infinitely grateful to him, because the help of a loved one greatly eased my condition. So why do we need a husband in childbirth?

All the birth stories I have ever heard or read can be divided into 2 types. Some of them ended in the categorical “Never again in my life!”, Others astounded the optimistic “I liked it so much!” I’ll definitely give birth again! ” Frankly, I never understood how childbirth can be like ?! But, having replenished the ranks of young mothers, she was surprised to realize that everything really was incredibly easy. The reason is simple - there was a beloved husband nearby.

husband at birth

Husband helped me walk

Not everyone knows about this, but in a standing position, the contractions are much easier. And everything would be fine, but at some point I realized that I could no longer take a step - my head was spinning, my legs were bucking, my back was aching with pain. Neither massage nor other procedures helped. To somehow alleviate my condition, my husband literally drove me around the ward, supporting me by the arms. Our “walks” lasted up to 5 hours, but allowed us to endure the pain in the battle without any problems.

Controlling the frequency of contractions

Keeping up with the times, I set the “Fight counter” on the phone in advance. But here is not so simple! There was simply not enough strength to focus on breathing and simultaneously press buttons on the mobile. This husband again took upon himself this important task - he recorded the beginning and end of the bout and reported it to the doctor. This saved me from an unnecessary headache and allowed me to get more accurate indicators.

Acted as Secretary

Agree, there is nothing worse than ignorance - especially during childbirth! Tolerate pain and not knowing when it all ends is just awful. The doctor sometimes came in, said something, looked, nodded his head and left. To understand what it was all about, my husband immediately went online and explained in detail what exactly was happening to me and the baby. “The active phase of labor has arrived. Half the way has already been passed ”- thanks to these comments I stayed in the know about all the events.

Entertained, joked, made laugh

What can relieve pain better than constant walking and breathing exercises? Only funny jokes! Now I know for sure that if I had stayed in the prenatal ward myself, I would have cried sobily from self-pity. However, in the presence of my husband, I had no choice but to laugh at witty posts on Facebook and laugh at the antics of the characters from the series "Friends". Remember the series in which Rachel gives birth to her first child? Even if you have not seen this series, be sure to watch it at birth! Thanks to him, at least for an hour I was able to escape from the pain and laugh heartily.

Held defense

Fending off friends and relatives a few days before the preliminary date of birth is not an easy task. The closer this moment, the more often the question “How? Has not yet given birth? And when is your term? ” There are those who are not too lazy to track the appearance of the future mother in social networks. “I have not come in for 6 hours. Most likely in the hospital. We need to call to find out! ” Such calls that are heard at regular frequencies are very annoying. Here again I needed the help of my husband. He not only answered messages on my behalf, but also managed to circle my mother around his finger, who called literally every half hour. We didn’t even tell her that we had left to give birth, because if she had found out about this, she would have come to control the process.

And finally ...

As you can see, a husband at childbirth is very good. Thanks to him, for all 11 hours of labor, I never cried or screamed. And most importantly, he did not have to do anything complicated. We did not even prepare for this process in advance - everything happened by itself. So if you have the opportunity to receive such help, do not refuse it. In any case, the spouse will always be able to go out into the corridor. Yes, and in a maternity room that can cause a vulnerable male psyche psychological trauma, it will not be pulled by force. I believe that just there a man has nothing to do. Support each other, and let your story end on the same happy note as mine: “I liked it. Obligatory face yet! ".
