How to dress a newborn for a walk (summer, autumn, winter)

If you are a young mother and are worried about the health of your child, then, most likely, you have already wondered how to dress your newborn baby for a walk. Additional care is required to help the baby adapt in this world. It is on clothing that special attention should be paid in the first days of a newborn’s life, because at this time the thermoregulation of the body of a little man still does not work well enough, and walks in the fresh air are very useful and even necessary.

Wardrobe for the newborn

By the time of the birth of the child, the main wardrobe, as a rule, has already been purchased. Typically, such a wardrobe includes the following items of clothing:

• The undershirt;
• Sliders;
• Overalls such as body or slip made of cotton or flannel fabric;
• A cap of thin fabric;
• A hat made of warm fabric;
• Cap made of cotton;
• Jumpsuit made of warm fabric, such as fleece;
• Insulated jumpsuit;
• Envelope or jumpsuit with insulation.

Diapers and blankets are not clothes, but you should not forget about them.

Things to remember in any weather

Walking with infants should be long enough and often, because in this way their health is strengthened, a small growing body is enriched with oxygen, sleep and appetite are improved. Usually a walk with a newborn takes from 1 to 2 hours, and it is recommended to do it twice a day. You should be well prepared for such a walk.

Before you put on baby clothes, do not forget about the diaper. It never hurts to bring along a warm fleece or bike blanket and raincoat, because the weather at any time of the year can present an unpleasant surprise in the form of an unexpected wind, rain or snow. Add to this a sheet, a handkerchief, a pacifier and water - and the walking kit for the baby is ready.

Pay attention to the weather. Before going out, we used to look at a thermometer. But temperature is just one of the indicators. Other factors play an equally important role: sunny or cloudy, windy or not, fog and precipitation, humidity level.

Winter walks

In winter, care should be taken to warm the limbs of the newborn, as well as the head, especially the ears. Provide the necessary heat to these parts of the body. The child can be dressed in a cap, a warm hat, a cotton body, fleece jumpsuit and an envelope with insulation. Top of the child should be covered with a warm blanket. Such equipment will provide the baby comfort and warmth when walking from -10 to -20 degrees. If the frost is very strong, it is better to refrain from walking.

At temperatures from 0 to -10, a warm blanket is not necessary. But sometimes at zero temperature there is such high humidity and such a piercing wind that we freeze faster than in cold weather. The child is also a person, and in such cases it is again worth remembering the warm blanket.

Walks in spring and autumn

In spring and autumn, the weather is changeable and insidious. Therefore, it does not hurt to make secure by putting the crumb in several layers of clothing. This is recommended by pediatricians, because if the baby suddenly gets hot, it can be easier to undress or unroll and cover again if it starts to freeze. But do not overdo it with wrapping the baby. It is better to let it cool slightly than to languish from the heat. You can always notice that the child began to freeze, and cover him with a blanket.

Let's say the weather is nice, clear and calm. The best option at temperatures from +2 to +8 would be the same cotton jumpsuit, warm fleece type jumpsuit and one more insulated jumpsuit, and for the head - a bonnet and a thin hat.

On the street from 8 to 13 heat? Limit yourself to a cotton slip, a warm hat and an envelope with a small amount of insulation.

Is the thermometer column somewhere between 13 and 17 degrees Celsius? The same thin cotton jumpsuit, warm hat and velor jumpsuit with insulation are enough.

But how to understand whether your child is comfortable? Touch the neck. If it is wet, hot, then the clothes are too much, and the child should be unraveled. On the other hand, slightly cool hands and feet are not an indication that the child is really cold. But a cold and reddened nose is a clear sign that the baby is freezing.

Summer walks

At a temperature of +20 degrees, characteristic of summer, it makes sense to abandon overalls and leave only the vest and sliders, and from the hats - a bonnet. At the same time, do not forget that the child’s head should not be overheated. If the sun begins to bake, and on the baby, in addition to the bonnet, also has a hat on, then the latter is best removed.

In the heat, it is recommended to wear the baby in spacious clothes made of natural fabric.

There is a lot of sun in the summer, and sunlight is useful for infants, but do not allow direct sunlight to fall on the child, especially during hours of increased solar activity, from noon to three hours. To avoid sunstroke, raise the visor on the stroller.

Use a rain cover during rain, but always leave free space so that fresh air can penetrate into the stroller, otherwise there will be no benefit from such a walk.
