I am categorically against such gifts. A kitten is a living creature and to give it if the child has not requested is wrong. And when strangers give it, it’s generally unethical. In addition, no one knows if a child’s allergy to cat hair will happen?
A kitten is certainly nice when it is small and fluffy and the child really likes it, but after some time all the care falls on the parents and the child goes in cycles on something else, so I think it's better to keep a soft toy in the house than an animal.

My sister dreamed of a puppy, begging for a long time from my parents and a young man.
