Every mother knows that a child in a family is not only joyful laughter and fun games. Often this is inexhaustible energy, fearlessness and the thirst to try everything yourself: especially that which is impossible. Avoiding dangers is real kung fu for parents. On the eve of the New Year, everyone is discussing whether it is worth putting a holiday tree in an apartment or is it better not to fall into the New Year’s statistics of the Ministry of Emergencies this time?

That was a couple of years ago. We have two daughters 1 and 3 years old. The youngest daughter on the eve of NG turned one year old, she only learned to walk and happily clutched at everything that she could. Naturally, turning over and dumping that which arose on its way to the goal. For a long time they could not decide to put the tree, but they thought that before the future repair it can be screwed up without a twinge of conscience to the floor, decorated and wrapped with wide cling film so that the child does not pull anything together and break it. The living room with the wrapped Christmas tree looked a bit strange and specific, but it was nevertheless elegant 🙂, and the holidays were gone without one broken toy. Eh ... if we knew how this Christmas tree will come to us in a year ...

The girls grew up: one 2, the other 4 - decided not to wrap the tree. Dressed up at night when the girls were sleeping. And in the afternoon they gave us a return surprise. We cooked in the kitchen, and they played in the living room. I was surprised how quiet!

But when I entered, I was convinced: children + tree = nightmare. The eldest remembered that last year the tree was wrapped in something, found scotch tape and, as far as it was enough, pasted over the entire lower half of the branches along with the toys! I said she wanted to decorate her ...

Earring a grandmother from Canada gave a wonderful musical card with Santa Claus. On it, Santa, standing on a stool, hung a star on the very top of the tree. The son loved the card very much and kept it nearby. So we decided to buy him a Santa's carnival costume from the same postcard. But something still we did not calculate. My smart son, apparently, decided that the reincarnation is incomplete without vigorous action. Everything happened instantly, right before our eyes! He put down a stool ... And climbed from a chair to the top of a decorated Christmas tree ...

It’s not hard to guess that in a second I pulled out a roaring child from under the prickly branches, wound around the arms of a bead, pieces of toys, and the rest of the evening we spent the whole family with a doctor. There were no serious injuries, but I will never forget the crash of a falling Christmas tree. In general, this year we are going to a matinee, we’ll have a round dance, and this time we’ll manage at home without incident. This year, the son himself asked not to put a Christmas tree.

Grishka was always an extraordinary boy: he did not like to play cars like the others, but he loved to “cook” with me, I cook, and my son plays with pots. He could throw cubes there and stir with a spoon ... We joked: he will be a cook! But they did not imagine what a masterpiece a 2-year-old chef would cook for us for the New Year.

While I was running shopping at the store, his great-grandmother (79 years old) came to sit with my son. While she was quietly taking a nap next to the TV, two steps away from her, my son was busy with an extremely important matter: he dragged a large pot and spoon, put Christmas decorations in it (we had Soviet, glass ones) and stirred them ...

When I went into the apartment with bags after the crowding and noise in the shops, I saw this, for some time I could not realize. Woke up to a gentle smile and “Mom, want to eat?” Oh, well, that he did not have time to taste his rags from the fragments himself! Corvalol was repelled by her grandmother, Grisha had an educational conversation, but there will never be glass toys in the house again.

If there is a small child in the house, the following precautions must be observed when choosing and installing the tree:

1. Best of all, if the tree is artificial, with soft “needles”, then the child will not prick and run into a splinter.
2. The tree should be small. In fact - the less the better. If this falls on the child as a result of his careless actions, he will not receive severe damage.
3. Put the tree on the floor, in the corner, it is better that there is a wall on both sides of it.
4. It is not necessary to hang electric garlands on a Christmas tree, it is better on a wall.
5. Toys - only plastic, wooden, paper - that do not break.
