winter overalls for children

MYTH. Solid colors are more practical and environmentally friendly.

Winter clothes should be practical, but good if they are also beautiful. Only mothers are often worried that bright dyes, when in contact with the baby's skin, will stain it, so they buy things in neutral shades. Multi-colored dyes do not always make clothes toxic. The results of the Roskachestvo test confirm that children's clothes of popular brands are safe, and free formaldehyde in them is no more than normal. Experts advise washing clothes before wearing so that formaldehyde completely evaporates.

MYTH. Colored clothes will certainly shed

Roskachestvo also checked how the color of autumn-winter clothes for babies is resistant to sunlight, sweat, distilled water and washing, as well as dry friction. We examined both the top material and the lining.

The experts were interested in the following parameters:

  1. Does the overalls fade during washing.
  2. Does the jumpsuit burn out in the sun.
  3. Does the lining color other clothes.

During the experimental wash, none of the tested suits shed. Only under the influence of sunlight did one of the samples still burn out.

MYTH. Overalls for the child need to take 1-2 sizes larger

In the offseason, the most difficult to choose clothes. Let's see what mistakes caring parents make when they take their children for a walk. Often, mothers and fathers take things for growth, so that they serve not one, but several seasons. Only not all clothes can withstand such a long wear - many things can wipe or fade by the end of the first winter. And in the course of the Roskachestvo study, only 19 out of 30 overalls showed good results, so there is no point in buying things for growth.

MYTH. Snowflaps protect children from snow

Shtripki is a protective element, which is a membrane of rubber, textile or plastic, which is attached to trousers and fixed on shoes. This word became known to modern mothers when children's winter clothes from Scandinavian countries appeared in Russian stores. It would seem that when children actively run and jump on the street, ride a roller coaster, this simple, but at the same time practical and useful invention comes in handy. Only in reality, the stripes do not always save, because they are not as snug as snow-protecting parts. Of the 30 overalls tested, only 7 had slippers, while only a pair of samples had additional loops or buttons sewn for them.

MYTH. Winter things must "breathe"

The main thing is that children's autumn-winter clothes should be warm, allowing the child to feel comfortable and not to freeze in cold weather. Therefore, the top of children's overalls is sewn from a material with a special film coating that does not conduct air and protects from the wind. But the lining of the winter suit should be made of breathable fabric in order to maintain air circulation in the space under the clothes and prevent the baby from overheating.

TRUE. One jumpsuit is enough for 33 slides

To study the strength under friction, experts used a disk with abrasive material. The initial condition was that high-quality winter clothing must withstand at least 4,000 cycles (revolutions) of the disk. This can be compared with a hundred descents from an ice slide with a length of 20 m without prejudice to overalls. 21 tested samples successfully coped with this task, but for a suit with a worse result, the trousers were worn after 1318 cycles. In other words, in such clothes a child could ride a slide no more than 33 times.

TRUE. Winter clothing should be water repellent

Kids love outdoor activities - ride a slide, sculpt snowmen, throw snowballs at each other. Therefore, the child's clothing should be such that he does not get wet while walking. According to the Roskachestvo study, almost all overalls showed a 100 percent ability to repel moisture. Such clothing does not just not get wet, but does not lose its water-repellent properties even after a few washings.

TRUE. In overalls with reflective elements, children are more noticeable on the road in the dark

For the safety of the child, it is very important that there be reflective elements on his clothes that can prevent an accident on the road. They will make the baby more visible in poorly lit areas. Among the checked children's things, there were only 7 samples without such reflectors.

I can write seditious words now, but some parents irresponsibly choose clothes for their children. Cheap and cheerful - for many this is a necessary measure, but nevertheless, the right jumpsuit is always good (warmth and safety).

We give our child a jumpsuit with a removable fur lining, you can still wear it in the fall and spring, and when it is very cold we put on the lining and the jumpsuit turns into winter. Therefore, it is better to take this option than separately for the fall and separately for the winter, it turns out to be much more profitable and practical.

From my own experience I know for sure that you definitely don’t need to take on overalls for growth. It’s not convenient for the child in it, and if the baby is less than a year old, it’s hard to carry it in his arms. And the lining must be made of natural fabric.
