Is it true that in the USSR it was easier to raise children

"Ah, what flour to bring up!" - claimed Freken Bock from the cartoon about Carlson. Raising a child has always been a difficult and troublesome affair. Many of those whose childhood was spent in the USSR recall that time with nostalgia, saying that it was easier to look after children then. Is it so? Let's try to figure this out.

“Thank you for our happy childhood, native country!”

This slogan could be found in schools, and in the houses of pioneers, and in demonstrations. The state gave social guarantees; the parents of the children were confident in their bright future. In schools and universities studied under uniform programs, the transition from one educational institution to another was painless. There were uniform approaches to assessing knowledge. Children's leisure was organized: free sports sections, various circles. Studying at music and art schools cost a penny, tickets to pioneer camps were cheap, a significant proportion was paid by the trade union.

Now it has become much more difficult to teach children. There were prestigious lyceums, gymnasiums to study in them, many children have to deal with tutors almost from the first class. Almost all graduates prepare for the exam and exam, with tutors, this takes a considerable part of the family budget. But there is a plus: universities have become more accessible, since entrance exams, where “blat” used to be, have been replaced by the Unified State Exam, which more objectively assess the knowledge of the child.

“A strong friendship will not break ...”

In the Soviet years there was a cult of friendship. Children gathered in companies, played together in the yard. They had their own leaders, organizers of tricks. Volleyball, ponder, hide and seek, Cossack robbers - which collective games were not there! The guys went to visit each other, the girls gave out dolls “married”, the boys organized battles in table football or hockey. Expensive toys were rare, in most cases they cost cheap little babies and metal trucks. Parents employed at work trusted children and their comrades. “The key is under the rug,” they wrote in notes stuck in the doorknob, and no one stole. In the summer, in the evenings, under the windows, the sounds of a guitar were heard, and breaking voices sang the songs of Yuri Antonov: "Flying gait ...". None of the parents took the child to school and did not meet him, it was safe on the streets.

What is happening today? You cannot drive children out into the street. And if he went for a walk, then his parents will not worry about his safety: mothers and fathers control every step with the help of mobile devices. Already, preschoolers easily manage gadgets, which over time replace any toys. Schoolchildren spend a lot of time on social networks. Can we talk about their full communication? Hardly. Although many children have a huge number of friends on social networks, Vkontakte correspondence is limited to wretched phrases, virtual friendship stops as quickly as it arises. It is not difficult to take the child’s leisure time now: he bought a laptop or tablet and he plunged into the computer world. Is it good? The question remains open.

"Drink, children, milk - you will be healthy!"

How to feed a baby? This topical issue in Soviet times was resolved simply. Most of the products were of good quality, without harmful colorants and flavors. There were no special delicacies on the shelves of the stores, they bought mostly the most basic products: bread, loaf, milk, eggs, flour, cereals, vegetables. They ate a lot of fish (it was cheap), it was more difficult with meat. Sausages were produced only a few varieties, they got them for the holidays, since there were almost no free ones. The food was very simple, the guys always ate with appetite.

Take a look at a modern supermarket. Shelves are choked with an abundance of products, but try to feed them children. Ordinary soup or pasta, they are unlikely to be. Their taste is spoiled by chips, yoghurts, cola and other "chemistry". The composition of sausages and sausages is scary to imagine. Milk, meat, poultry - all contain harmful substances. And from here the origins of allergies, asthma, eczema and other diseases come from.

"Ksenia is a plush skirt"

How did you dress children in the years of the USSR? Everyone went to school in uniform: girls wore brown dresses and black aprons (on weekdays), white aprons (on holidays); boys - uniform trousers and a jacket. It was hard to buy something beautiful, exquisite. Jeans were the dream of both boys and girls, they were sold from under the floor by speculators or brought from abroad. Both clothes and shoes were made of natural materials, which crumpled and worn out quickly. In winter, they wore heavy sheepskin coats or kurguzy winter coats. But no one had complexes about clothes: everyone existed in approximately equal conditions.

There are no problems with clothes for today's children. Beautiful overalls, jackets, jeans of all stripes - which you will not find in shopping centers and in the market. Children sometimes determine a person’s value by the brand of clothing that he wears - and this is an unpleasant tendency.

So when is it easier to raise children? Many will say - in the Soviet years. But if modern parents are invited to return to the USSR, hardly any of them will agree: each has his own time. It is only necessary to remember one thing: at all times moral qualities should come first in education.
