Nanny or nursery: what is best for the child

“Nanny or day nursery?” - This question sooner or later arises among most parents. Especially often, he appears in those families that do not have the opportunity to involve grandparents in the upbringing. Who, then, should be entrusted with the development of his beloved offspring? To determine the only right decision, let's look at the pros and cons of education with the help of a nanny and nursery.

State nursery

day nursery

Advantages:

  1. A nursery is an ideal place to educate a little man on social skills. Your baby will come into contact with children completely different in character and temperament; he will need to get along with them and learn to share. All these are necessary conditions for successful interaction in later life.
  2. State nurseries usually abide by numerous rules: sanitary-hygienic, personnel, fire-fighting, etc. All teachers have education and work experience, as evidenced by documents. Additional control from higher authorities gives confidence that your baby will be safe and under proper supervision.
  3. From a financial point of view, this is the most profitable option for parents. Agree that the services of a nanny and a private day nursery are much more expensive.

Disadvantages:

  1. The accumulation of children in groups provokes a lightning spread of completely different infections. Chickenpox, SARS, common colds and rhinitis ... A week in a nursery, two weeks at home - the usual schedule for visiting an educational institution. Very rare babies get along without sick leave.
  2. In the state nursery, unfortunately, educators cannot give as much care to your child as you would like, due to the overcrowding of groups. Some children are very painfully accustomed to such conditions, others simply do not know how to compete with peers for the attention of an adult.
  3. It’s not so easy to get into such a manger. You have to wait for a trip to a preschool institution for so long that you are more likely to go to kindergarten than to a nursery group.

Private day nursery

Advantages:

  1. Frequent preschool institutions usually work longer than the state nursery - until 20.00 or 21.00. This is certainly extremely convenient for busy parents.
  2. In groups there are few children - no more than 10-12 people. Kids receive enough attention and care from carers, which also positively affects the speed of adaptation. Even in private nurseries you can get the help of any specialist: psychologist, neurologist, speech therapist.

Disadvantages:

  1. Such institutions are sometimes located in private apartments, and not in separate, specially designated premises for nurseries. Agree that in such conditions it is difficult to follow all the necessary sanitary and fire safety measures.
  2. In private educational institutions, it is more difficult for parents to control the level of education and qualifications of specialists. Most often, parents have to rely on the decency of the teachers themselves. Therefore, do not hesitate to require diplomas, medical books and other documents that permit educational activities.
  3. Another minus is the cost of services. The difference in the amount of payment between public and private nurseries can be huge. Therefore, correlate your requests with financial capabilities.

Professional babysitter

Nanny

Advantages:

  1. You can dictate (to a reasonable extent, of course) your conditions regarding the upbringing of your child: when and what to play, what methods to use, etc. You can also ask the nanny to make daily detailed reports on the behavior and development of the baby.
  2. A very flexible schedule - you can agree with the nanny on how many hours the child will be under her supervision. Perhaps you will leave for only 2-3 hours, or maybe delay today until 22.00.
  3. The baby is almost completely protected from possible infections. Of course, you should make sure that your employee also does not suffer from diseases that are dangerous for the child. Another plus is that babysitters usually do not refuse to sit with slightly ill children. By the way, the nanny is almost the only option for “special” children.
  4. An individual approach also applies to catering, which is important, and sometimes just necessary for those kids who are picky in food or suffer from food allergies. At home it is much easier to adjust the diet to children's needs.

Disadvantages:

  1. Perhaps the main minus of the nanny is the child’s lack of necessary communication with peers. No walks on the playgrounds will not replace the full hours of fuss in the group. Being with the nanny, the baby can also miss such interesting events of kindergarten life as matinees and themed costumed holidays.
  2. Another danger - you become completely dependent on one person. If suddenly she decides to quit or end her career, you will have to rush again in search of the right nanny. Add to this the psychological dependence of the baby on the nanny.

So, each option has its own strengths and weaknesses. And only you can decide what is best for your child - a nursery or a nanny. In any case, be sure to look at the behavior of the baby after they sent him to the group or left with a nanny. It is the children's mood that will allow you to make the final and most correct decision.

At first, they did not even think about leaving a child with a nanny. Sent to a day nursery and did not worry. However, after some time, the child has speech defects. The child spoke perfectly everything, and after a short stay in the nursery he stopped pronouncing the letter P, and even got a bunch of infections there. Now our choice is only a nanny. And you don’t have to worry about the child’s communication with his peers, because we pay the nanny with the neighbors, and the child spends time with the neighboring child.

I do not agree that a child under 3 years old should generally be sent to a preschool institution. Only after the end of the parental leave immediately in the garden, and not in the nursery. If mom is forced to go to work because of her salary, then what choice can we talk about? And when there is money, hire a nanny for the baby for a short time if necessary.

State nurseries were not even included in our choice: unbearably long lines, really not to get there. They decided between the private garden and the nanny, we don’t have any grandmothers, and we both work with my husband .. We decided to take the nanny, it was more profitable and somehow my heart insisted on it .. I was getting calmer. The kid arranged communication on the street and went to visit my sister — she has two, they frolic together) I am satisfied, however, there were times when the nanny was sick, or she needed to leave. I had to take time off from work or ask friends, I think this can be dealt with. In my opinion, this option is ideal, the nanny also raised me, I still remember that time with emotion) Of course, to each his own, and it’s up to you to decide
